Straightening from towel-dried hair:
-Lock arms and rough dry the roots by selecting the desired airflow and temperature to direct the airflow towards your roots.
-Once roots are dry, unlock arms and select desired airflow and temperature. Straighten and style damp hair in sections.

Straightening from dry:
-Unlock the arms and select desired airflow and temperature. Take an appropriate amount of hair and place it between the handles as close to the roots as possible. Close the clamps and pull down evenly to straighten the hair. 
-Use cold air to lock in style.
